Dr. Parmeshwar Lal Saran earned a master’s in
horticulture and was awarded a gold medal from
the Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner,
Rajasthan, in 2002. He earned a PhD in fruit
science from Chaudhary Charan Singh (CCS)
Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Haryana,
in 2005. He was a junior research officer (hor-
ticulture) at G.  B. Pant University of Agriculture
and Technology, Pant Nagar, starting in December
2006, and since March 2012 he has worked as
a senior scientist (horticulture) at the Indian
Agricultural Research Institute Regional Station,
Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar. Dr. Saran received the Young Scientist Fellowship Award,
2014–2015, from the Department of Science and Technology, Science & Engineering
Research Board, Government of India, New Delhi. He has authored more than 45
research publications in the field of horticulture.


Dr. Ishwar Singh Solanki earned a PhD in the
genetics of plant breeding from Indian Agricultural
Research Institute, New Delhi, in 1991. He has held
the positions of assistant scientist, scientist and
senior scientist (fruit breeding) at CCS Haryana
Agricultural University, Hisar, Haryana, since
September 1980. Since February 2009 he has
worked as head of the Indian Agricultural Research
Institute Regional Station, Pusa, Samastipur, Bihar.
Dr. Solanki was bestowed the Best Teacher Award,
CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar,
Haryana; Rashtriya Gaurav Award, IIFS, New
Delhi; Fellow of ISG & PB, New Delhi; ISPRD,
IIPR, Kanpur; and CHAI, New Delhi. He has
released 14 varieties and registered 4 germplasm lines in agricultural crops, and has
authored more than 100 research publications in field crops improvement.
