Sean Allen-Hermanson is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Florida International
University in Miami, Florida. Animal consciousness lies within his general interest in topics
at the intersection of philosophy of mind and cognitive science. He is also Director of the No
Stone Age Unturned project.
Adam Alonzi is an independent researcher and interdisciplinary analyst who has worked in
the fields of biotechnology, publishing, film production, roboethics, financial modeling, artificial
intelligence, futures research, and consciousness studies.
Bernard J. Baars is a former senior fellow in theoretical neurobiology at The Neurosciences
Institute in La Jolla, California. He is best known as the originator of the global workspace theory,
a theory of human cognitive architecture and consciousness. Baars co-founded the Association
for the Scientific Study of Consciousness, and the Academic Press journal Consciousness and
Cognition with the late William P. Banks.
David Barrett is an instructor of philosophy at the University of Arkansas. He is the author of
articles on the philosophy of mind, philosophy of psychology, and consciousness.
Tim Bayne is an Australian Research Council Future Fellow at Monash University in
Melbourne, Australia. He is the author of The Unity of Consciousness (Oxford University Press,
2010) and Thought: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford University Press, 2013).
Berit “Brit” Brogaard is Professor of Philosophy at University of Miami, Florida and
Professor II at University of Oslo. Her areas of research include philosophy of perception, phi-
losophy of emotions, and philosophy of language. She is the author of Transient Truths (Oxford
University Press, 2012), On Romantic Love (Oxford University Press, 2015) and The Superhuman
Mind (Penguin, 2015).
Andrew Brook is Chancellor’s Professor of Philosophy and Cognitive Science Emeritus at
Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada. He is former President of the Canadian Philosophical
Association and the current Treasurer of the International Psychoanalytic Association.
