4.19 CymaScope as an Experimental Tool for Connecting

Mind and Matter

CymaScope (Figure 4.14) may provide an experimental tool for studying

the connection between mind and matter, the subtitle of this book,

because the CymaGlyphs induced by the brain waves (see the last row in

Figure 4.14) may be viewed as the signs that connect the brain (i.e., a

material system) and mind (i.e., a non-material system) as schematically

represented in Figure 4.17.

4.20 Life Supervenes on Water

We are 99% water molecules [517] by molecular composition and ~70%

by weight [517].

There may be many explanations that can be proposed for this

interesting water–life connection, including the idea that water is the

solvent, water is the medium of communication in and among organisms

(Section 4.11), etc., but there is yet another possibility:

All living structures are determined by (or supervene on) water structures

(or aquaresonances) at transition states. (4.37)
