Ross Gelbspan was an editor and reporter for 31 years at the
Philadelphia Bulletin, the Washington Post, and the Boston Globe. At the
Globe, he conceived, directed, and edited a series of articles that won a
Pulitzer Prize. In 1998, he published The Heat Is On: The Climate
Crisis, the Cover-up, the Prescription (Perseus Books). His extensive
speaking engagements have included presentations at, among other
places, the World Economic Forum, Renaissance Weekend, a
Conference of Socialist Scholars, a climate summit of sixty colleges
and universities, and a recent conference of foundation executives.
Gelbspan has appeared on Nightline, All Things Considered, and Talk of
the Nation, among other radio and television programs. He has briefed
the executives of oil companies in the United States, Egypt, and else-
where. Gelbspan’s articles have appeared in E/The Environmental
Magazine, Harper’s, The Atlantic Monthly, The American Prospect, The
Nation, Sierra, Gristand a number of other newspapers and magazines
in the United States and abroad. He maintains a website at

David Helvargis president of the Blue Frontier Campaign (bluefront.org)
and the author of two books, Blue Frontier: Saving America’s Living Seas
(Owl Books, a Los Angeles Times“Best Book,” 2001) and The War
against the Greens (Sierra Club Books, 1994). He has worked as a war
correspondent in Northern Ireland and Central America, and covered
a range of issues, reporting from every continent including
Antarctica. An award-winning journalist, Helvarg has produced more
than forty broadcast documentaries for PBS, The Discovery Channel,
and other networks. His print work has appeared in publications
including the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Smithsonian, Popular
Science, Science, Sierra, and The Nation. He has led training workshops
for fellow journalists in Poland, Turkey, Tunisia, Slovakia, and
Washington, D.C. He is a regular commentator for Marketplace Radio
and a licensed private investigator.
