Many professional nursing and multidisciplinary journals and newsletters pub-
lish manuscripts about EBP projects. Author guidelines are usually available via
the Internet for review. Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing focuses specifi-
cally on EBP and is an excellent resource for a potential publication.

Summary

Translation is the outcome of the PET process. The PET process is linear, but
many steps in the process can generate new questions, recommendations, or ac-
tions. The organizational infrastructure needed to foster translation includes bud-
getary support; human and material resources; and the commitment of individu-
als, stakeholders, and interprofessional teams. Translation is the essence of the
EBP process and the cornerstone of best practice. Translation of recommenda-
tions requires organizational skills, project management, and leaders with a high
level of influence and tenacity—the perfect job for nurses.
