There are few similarly detailed studies of the Boyson type. A critical issue is the
lack in the ocean itself of stationary populations. Students interested in the approach
should examine Uye’s (1982) estimation of the production of Acartia clausi in
Onagawa Bay, Japan, a somewhat more open system than Jakle’s Lagoon.
