Sian means ‘flash of lightning’ in the
Bolognese dialect – the significance
being that this limited-run supercar
is Lamborghini’s first serious venture
into electrification, even though it’s
more closely connected to the Aventa-
dor than to 2017’s all-electric Terzo
Millennio concept. And, no, you can’t
have one – all 63 of them (the number
being a nod to Lambo’s founding year)
have been sold. Buyers are working
with Lamborghini’s Ad Personam
customisation programme to ensure
they’re all unique. The car pictured
here has gold flakes and crystals in the
paintwork, for instance.

Lamborghini’s design team have
blended elements of the Terzo
Millennio concept and the classic
Countach in the Sian. At the rear, an
active wing is housed between upright
winglets that have been carried
forward from the electric hypercar
concept. Active cooling vents at the
rear open up using smart materials
that react to specific temperatures;
when a certain heat level is reached,
the reaction causes the vents to rotate,
opening up airflow.

Lambo doesn’t want to let go of
what’s made it great over the course
of decades – namely its V12. In the
Sian, the 6.5-litre screamer is the most
powerful ever fitted to a production
car, making 774bhp (15bhp more
than the version in an Aventador
SVJ) at 8500rpm. While it might be a
hybrid, the Sian will still sound like a
Lamborghini should.
