‘If only the McLaren had the Lamborghini’s engine.’ ‘If only the
911 had the Cayman’s agility.’ There was a lot of ‘if only’ during
our test. So, let’s build our perfect sports car based on the body
parts of our six protagonists: not a Frankenstein’s monster, more a
flawless driving machine. We start with the McLaren’s suspension
and steering. Plus the 600LT’s driving position. Add the Huracan’s
magnificent stentorian V10, naturally aspirated of course. Choose
the GT4’s classic analogue dash, steering wheel, brakes and
manual six-speed stick-shift, more feelsome than any paddle-
change. Add the ride quality of the 911, for that long drive home.
The Megane’s astonishing carbon wheels, £12,000 a set. And then
the Supra’s price, £54,620 as tested.
