Yoga is massive in Hong Kong, and
there are so many studios to choose
from. So much so that it can be a bit
overwhelming for a visitor, with many
wondering where to go to keep their
practice going while holidaying here. If
this is you, check out one of these top
places to do yoga in Hong Kong.

Yoga BamBam; Sheung Wan
With two studios nestled on quiet
tree-lined streets in Hong Kong’s artistic
Sheung Wan area, Yoga BamBam offers
a wide range of yoga classes that are set
in chic, yet simple studios. It’s one of the
hippest studios around, following a “no
clichés, no bullshit” philosophy that is
in-tune with the diversity that makes
Hong Kong so unique. There are no
sales people here trying to sell you a
membership. Instead, you pay for
classes as you go. Plus, all teachers are
encouraged to be totally authentic to
themselves, teaching yoga the way that
they want to teach it. There is no room
for commercialism here. Instead, you
will be in a room filled with real people
doing what they love to do; yoga.

Iyengar Central; Central
Running for 20 years, Iyengar Central
was the first ever yoga studio to open in

Central Hong Kong and is one of the
oldest studios in the city. The school
started as a sanctuary for those wanting
to practice the traditional Iyengar style
of yoga, and continues this path today.
They cater classes to people of all body
types and ages, following the tradition
and philosophy of BKS Iyengar. They are
well equipped with all of the props that
you would ever need in this practice,
offering classes at various levels.
They also get some pretty amazing
teachers in from all over the world to
lead workshops for both regular and
visiting students. Iyengar Central is a
non-membership studio, with students
paying as they go. It’s a peaceful place
and a great atmosphere for practicing
this slow-paced, traditional style of
yoga.

Anahata Yoga; Central
Named after the fourth chakra, Anahata
Yoga truly is a place of compassion,
courage and love. Whether you want
yoga for your body, mind or soul, there is
a class here that benefits everyone and
everything. There are traditional classes
like Hatha, Kundalini and Ashtanga, as
well as specialised yoga for the back, the
core, and for detoxing and mental health.
They also offer prenatal yoga, restorative

yoga and yoga therapy. Basically, it’s an
all-round place for people from all walks
of life. Programs here help people heal,
deepen their practice and promote
awareness. If that’s not enough, they also
have some fantastic teachers, many of
whom hail from India.

Kita Yoga; Sheung Wan
Kita Yoga is a boutique yoga studio that
sits above Sheung Wan in the trendy Tai
Ping Shan neighbourhood. It’s a small
studio that has a lot of character and
offers classes to suit all needs, from
powerful sculpting classes to slow-paced
evening classes by candlelight. As
well, you can sign up for a nutrition
consultation and get tips based on the
Ayurvedic practice to help your body,
inside and out. Come for a drop-in class
or buy an unlimited week pass (highly
recommended for visitors) that allows
you to enjoy as many classes as you’d like
on your holiday.

Anhao Wellness;
Sheung Wan
Founded by French competitive gymnast
and personal trainer Estelle Neve,
Anhao Wellness opened its doors in 2012
and today is one of the top places to do
yoga in Hong Kong. It has some top-
notch instructors that have worked with
athletes and people recovering from
injuries, guiding them through some
great yoga classes. Classes here are
small to allow the instructor to really
focus on what everyone is doing, and
ensure that each pose and movement is
done correctly. The studio specialises in
Ashtanga yoga, as well as Pilates
reformer. Try both and leave Hong Kong
feeling strong, flexible and aligned.
They also offer Pilates mat classes,
restorative yoga, hatha yoga and yin
yoga, ensuring that there’s something
for everyone and any level.
The whole essence of yoga inspires
people to be healthy. This includes
eating vegetarian or vegan food. There
are numerous amazing restaurants and
cafés in Hong Kong that serve up
vegetarian and vegan cuisine, with this
number fast increasing. In fact, it seems
that everyone in Hong Kong is on a
health kick, and eating clean seems to
be the new norm. As a result, there is a
wide range of cuisine to choose from,
from Western style meals to authentic
Cantonese cuisine, minus the meat. If
you want delicious vegetarian food, head
to one of these fabulous restaurants.
