than 100 shops and restaurants, including
New York’s first and only Neiman Marcus
and on-trend eat-
eries from cutting-

However, its most
notable feature

  • and sure to be
    one of New York
    City’s most Insta-
    grammable land-
    marks – is Thomas
    Heatherwick’s ‘Vessel’, a series of 154 intri-
cately interconnecting flights of stairs that’s
    reminiscent of an active beehive.
2019 will also see the May opening of the

26,000 square-foot Statue of Liberty Mu-
seum, which includes three gallery spaces
designed to enhance the visitor experience.
The Immersive Theater will feature images
of Lady Liberty
from past, pres-
ent and future,
while the Engage-
ment Gallery will
highlight the mak-
ing of Liberty in
the warehouse of
French sculptor
Frederic Auguste
Bartholdi. In the
final section, In-
spiration Gallery, guests will be able to add
a self-portrait and collage of inspirational
images to an ever-growing digital experi-
ence called ‘Becoming Liberty’. The tour
concludes with an up-close view of Liberty’s
most iconic symbol – her original torch –
held high for nearly 100 years.
Other notable developments include the
renovation and expansion of the Museum of
Modern Art (MoMA), which will be completed
later this year, as well as the arrival of World-
Pride in June, the firsttime this legendary LG-
BTQ event will be held in the United States.
It’s expected that three million revellers will
take part in the 30-day event, with the major-
ity of festivities taking place from June 25-30.
“New York City has a pulse and an ener-
gy all its own. The city’s diversity, inclusiv-
ity and welcoming spirit are incomparable
draws,” says Heywood. “We look forward to
welcoming visitors during this significan
year, encouraging more repeat visitation to
the five boroughs.”

Visitors will find luxury residences
and more than 100 shops and
restaurants, including New York’s
first and only Neiman Marcus.
