Thankfully, we once again can

turn to Thrustmaster for an

option here. The TMX isn’t as

flashy as most – you’re really

trimming backto basics. The

pedal setis pretty slim with just

two unexciting levers on a

plastic base, and the wheel itself

features only theabsolutebasic

buttons you’llneed to operate it

in-game andnothing more. It’s

slimmed tothe bare essentials,

but really that’s what we want

at this price.

That’sbecause what really

matters is the force feedback

within, andthe TMXsharesits

belt-pulley system with the

popular T150.It’sdefinitely a

less powerful system than the

other Thrustmaster and

non-Thrustmaster systems on

this list, but it’s presentenough

that you’ll bethankful it’s there.

With the TMX you can be

sure you’re making a good start

in your sim racing career, and if

it ends up in a cupboard most of

the year, you won’t feel too

much regret thanksto its

wallet-friendly price tag.

The Thrustmaster has
sat as our #1 pick for the
best racing wheel for a
few yearsnow.Eventhough it’sa
little older, having originally been
released in 2014,it’sstill plenty
deserving of a topspot in 2022.
The T300RS has aged better
than a lotof modern tech, with
mods and support aplenty.
The factyou can even pick up
a T300RS today is amiracle, but
what’sbetter is that you’d be
buying a dual belt-driven design
for highly responsiveforce
feedback thatremains impressive
to this day. It delivers smooth
response from the track with the
benefits of the extra power that
only a belt-drive system can

deliver in lieu of a bigger motor.

The wheelon the T300RS can

also be removedand replaced,

which isn’t something you can do

on the T2 48. TheT300RS is

pricier thanthe T248, however,

and doesn’t come with a clutch

pedal. That’sthe trade-off you

have to make here:more

impressiveforce feedback anda

removable wheel at the expense

of the mod cons. There’s a good

case tobe mad, but you could

also get theT300RS GT Editionif

you wantthe best of both.
