Alternative ways to secure
a loaded track bike include using
a Pit Bull Trailer Restraint Sys-
tem, which holds the bike via pins
that fit into the ends of the axle;
a MOTO- D Strapless Transport
Stand; or a Canyon Dancer Remote
Peg Harness. Be sure to follow the
manufacturer’s directions exactly.
Unloading is the reverse
of loading. Be sure your hand is
on the brake lever when the last
tie-down is released. Watch your
feet as you step backward. And
if you've removed the sidestand
from the motorcycle, make sure
you've placed the rear stand where
the bike needs to end up. (By the
way, when you load, remember to
bring the rear stand!)
I always feel a certain sense
of relief when the bike is unloaded
and the rear stand slips into place.
I also feel a sense of relief when
the bike is in the transport vehicle
at the end of a trackday, the sec-
ond tie-down is pulled tight, and
the machine is safe and secure for
the trip home.
And as always, be quick to
ask for help—and be quick to offer
to help someone load or unload.
It's good karma, and it makes the
