INDIANAPOLIS

Yes May and Indy and all those wonderful
things to do that surround the great race and the
start of those summer months as well.
As you may recall from our Departure Lounge
segment in Issue 1 (On line still at http://www.zinio.com/
nz/race-control/console-34249-144267-i423931
so grab a download copy today) there is simply a
massive amount of great things to take in around
the race. The city is very easy to get to and there
is such a vast array of Motorsport options in the
week leading up to the race not only at IMS but
the surrounding Speedway venues as well such
as Terre Haute, Anderson, Raceway Park and
State Fairgrounds.
So for this years Departure Lounge in Indy we
want to single out two things to add to the list of
options you may have during your stay.
For any Speedway fan this May will mark

you last change to witness a Silver Crown USAC
Event at State Fairgrounds with the recent
announcement of the racing surface getting more
catered towards horse racing and fairground
events this May will mark the last Hoosier 100 to
be hosted there. This is a classic event that started
back in 1953 and the sheer sight and sounds of
those high powered Silver Crown cars on the flat 1
mile dirt oval over 100 laps is something that is so
rare that you don’t want to miss this chance.
if you are in Indy ,State Fairgrounds is very easy
to get to and it has plenty of parking as well. The
event is on Thursday May 23 and marks the 64th
running of the event and gates open from 3pm
with qualifying from 5pm and the racing kicking off
early evening.
Now if you are travelling with the family then
this next option is simply a must do.
