“SO MANY
SCRUBS SUCK”
PAULA BEGOUN, FOUNDER
OF PAULA’S CHOICE

The skincare guru explains
why her UnScrub doesn’t

“There are still so many
abrasive scrubs on the
market that are damaging
to skin, but still, some women
just love a scrub exfoliator.
So, I created one that gives
that double-cleanse feeling
but won’t scrape the skin
causing inflammation and
micro-tears. The jojoba bead
itself is soft and because it
breaks down with pressure,
you can’t overdo it. And
because it dissolves, it’s
biodegradable. That’s why
it’s called the UnScrub.”

“ADAPT YOUR
TAN TO WHAT
YOU’RE
WEARING”
JAMES READ, FOUNDER OF
JAMES READ TAN

The bronzing god
defines the Fashion Tan
(verb: /fash-uhn tan/)

“The fashion tan is when you
only spot tan visible parts of
limbs that poke out from your
clothing. As the weather
cools, it’s not necessary to
have everything bronzed,
so tan according to the
fashion you’re wearing.”
Used in a sentence:
“Since embracing grandpa
sneakers and bike shorts,
I haven’t had to worry about
tanning my whole leg — I just
fashion tan below my knee.”

I’M ALWAYS
TRYING
TO FIND A
SOLUTION
TO HAIR
PROBLEMS”
CHRISTOPHE ROBIN,
FOUNDER OF HIS
EPONYMOUS RANGE

The Parisian colourist has
made home colour
shockingly simple

When Christophe Robin isn’t
travelling the world, he’s
behind the chair at his 2nd
arrondissement salon,
painting the strands of clients
like Elle Macpherson. His
new no-skill-needed at-home
colour, however, may put
him out of business. “There’s
no mixing and it lasts five to
eight shampoos,” he says.
It colours greys with ease

  • just paint it on with the
    toothbrush-like tool that
    manoeuvres around the
    hairline. There are only four
    shades, designed to adapt
    to a range of natural
    colours, and because the
    product doesn’t oxidise, you
can toss it in your cabinet
and use it again. And you
    don’t need a hazmat mask
as it’s free of ammonia and
    peroxide. C’est super.E
