SYDNEY
PARAMOUNT HOUSE
HOTEL
A stay at one of Sydney’s most stylish
new openings puts you in good
company – you’ll barely have to
stretch your legs to reach Paramount
Coffee Project (ensuring you beat its
weekend brunch queues), the Golden
Age Cinema and its dimly lit, under-the-
radar bar, Chin Chin Sydney and wine
bar Poly (an Ester restaurant spin-off
offering some 160 drops).
Inside, there’s a focus on luxe
touches sourced close by, like locally
produced wine, Yulli’s Brews beers
and LP’s Quality Meats, Aesop
toiletries and Seljak Brand blankets
(made in Tasmania from recycled
and offcut wool). In the hallways,
you’ll find artwork from China
Heights gallery around the corner.
The rooms themselves have
a homey feel – if your home is a
well-styled city apartment, that is –
with bang-on-trend exposed brick
(it’s the former Paramount Pictures
Studios HQ, after all), terrazzo-tiled
showers and luxe Jardan furniture
pared back with specially sourced
vintage pieces. Once you peel
yourself out of the Japanese-style
timber bath, you’ll find the bed lined
with linen sheets, a departure from
typical crisp, cold hotel bedding.
