O^1 Cut the palings
Using a drop saw or circular saw,
measure and cut the lengths of the pine
palings for the door panel. Using a
length of decking pine as a straightedge,
use a router with a 6.4mm straight bit
to create the lap joints on the palings.
To create the wall shingles, measure
and cut the palings to size. Clamp
irmly, then, using a circular saw set
at 15°, cut the palings to create the angle
for the shingle overlap.

O^2 Attach the door frame
Cut the decking pine for the door frames
and lay out on a lat surface, exterior
side facing down. Check for square and
clamp to hold in position. Mark the
centre of the frame top and bottom.
Starting from the centre, lay the palings
down, lap joints overlapping. Use a bit,
taped to stop the bit going right through,
to predrill holes, then countersink.
Apply adhesive, screw and clamp the
palings together. ▶
