While the television may be an essential
inclusion in most living areas, it’s
certainly not the most attractive. Kim
recently discovered the Samsung Frame
TV and considers it a great option.
‘It simply looks like a framed piece
of artwork when the screen is not being
used to watch a show,’ she says.
Greg suggests having a screen that
descends from the ceiling and a
drop-down section with a projector TV.
‘You get this amazing cinematic
experience, where you really appreciate
what you are watching. hen, once it’s
done, it all disappears,’ he says. ‘It may
be a little more expensive but its beneits
far outweigh the cost.’ ❖

COSY NOOKS
These days, living spaces often combine lounge, dining and kitchen
areas, so defining those zones can add a sense of intimacy.
‘If you’re combining two rooms, the best way to create zones
- a family/dining room, for instance – is to use floor rugs, as they
divide the spaces into their own areas,’ says Kim. ‘The use of a hall
table behind your sofa can also define a space.’
Creating nooks within the lounge room is another way to create
a cosy feel. ‘A lot of people say that they want an area where they
can just sit and have a cup of tea,’ says Natalee.
Think about how you like to live in that space and lay furniture
accordingly – perhaps a comfy armchair in the corner with an occasional
table and lamp, ideal for a quiet read.
