his was just your average bland
apartment you’ll ind in any suburb
across Australia, which made it a perfect
blank slate for the creative juices.
he biggest problem was the existing
looring: a mishmash of old carpet,
lino and tiles. As I only had a small
budget to work with and was limited
in my looring options, I needed an
economical solution that I could run
throughout and would work well
for an apartment.

in Pecan, at a total cost of about $450,
proved a terriic solution, especially
as it’s suitable for wet and dry areas.
his meant I could run it from the living
area straight through to the kitchen.
It instantly had the unif ying efect
I was after.
he soft tones of Taubmans Easycoat
in Sprig Of Iv y, teamed with the tones of
Ginger Rose in the kitchen and inished
with crisp white trims, provided a
restful backdrop for the furnishings.
To accentuate the length of the
apartment, I ran shelving down one
wall with a low-rise, long entertainment
unit underneath, while a 2.5-seater sofa
sat on the opposite wall. A large, lush
patterned rug dominated the living area
and anchored the space beautifully.
his makeover really was the sum
of its parts – not so much wow factor as
a restful blend of elements that overall
