- Attach the hammock shelf
Attach your fabric to the base rails by
simply wrapping around and securing
the material with the hot glue gun. ❖ - read the sash cord
Install the sash cord by drilling holes
the width of the cord through each
end of the two base rails. hread the
cord through and, once you are happy
with the span of the legs, tie a knot at
each end to prevent the legs from
splitting open. Paint the bottoms of
the legs in Coral Spice. - Install the base rails
Measure and cut two lengths of the
22mm dowel for the base of the legs.
Fit this dowel into the holes you
drilled earlier at each end of the legs,
then secure with the timber screws
from the outside of the leg into the
centre of each railing. - Add the top rail
Cut the 25.4mm dowel to length,
allowing an overhang of about 60mm
at each end of the legs. he Tasmanian
oak dowel Kara used for this project
is ideal because it is made from
premium grade, dense, resilient
hardwood. his means that it has - Drill the holes
Set out the hole centres for the top rail
dowel on each of the four legs – we
placed them 200mm from the top.
Using a 25mm speed bit or hole saw,
drill holes in the legs. Remember to
measure accurately and then drill from
each side to prevent the timber splitting
out as the cutting blade emerges.
Using a 22mm speed bit or hole saw,
drill holes at the base of the legs – we
chose a spot 200mm up. Only drill to
a depth of 5mm to form a recess that
will hold the ends of the base rails.
excellent staining qualities and is
also suitable for painting.
Slide the legs onto the dowel, with
two legs at each end. Install your split
pins to lock of the legs.
