OVER THE PAST 10 years
Motorcycling Western
Australia’s Junior Elite
Training (JET) Camp has
become a benchmark on how
to prepare youngsters for a
racing career. Some of the
State’s top riders who have
attended this camp have gone
on to race across Australia,
Great Britain, Italy, United
States and New Zealand.

Held annually, the camp
is open to riders aged
13-17 from all disciplines
of the sport, and is aimed
at recognising the State
Sporting Associations’
developing riders and
providing them with the
chance to advance their off-
track skills.
Motorcycling WA
development officer

Hannah Lawton has worked
extensively with the Western
Australian Institute of Sport
to develop and deliver a
high-performance program
that provides riders with
the knowledge of what is
required to succeed at an
elite level.
“Our aim is to guide these
riders along the pathway to
achieve success and their

sporting dream,” she says.
“The presenters are from
world-level competition and
can offer knowledge and
experience rarely available in
Western Australia.”
This year’s 12 camp
attendees were subject to
some brutal early-morning
boot-camp sessions with pro
MX racer and coach Daniel
Banks.
