Richards is used to living through such

family drama in public, but it isn’t always

easy. Last December, her Los Angeles home

was burgled, with more than $1 million in

clothing, jewellery and bags stolen. “The

sentimental things from my mom were the

most personal,” she says. “I can’t replace

them.” The experience has made her new

series all the more important—it’s a tribute

to her mother that’s as precious as any

heirloom. “My mom always made me feel

like I was the greatest thing in the world,” she

says. “Everything I have now is because of

her. And I am so incredibly grateful.”

“She was always our

biggest cheerleader.”

“My father was amazing,”

says Richards (in 1991 with

businessman Ken Richards,

who split from her mother

when she was 3 and died in

1998). “He was super hands-

on and loved to cook for us.”
