TheOcean’smovies get a major, beneficial estrogen boost

with the fourth instalment. More than a decade after

George, Brad and Matt frolicked through Ocean’s Thirteen,

an all-star female cast (fronted by Bullock, Blanchett and

Anne Hathaway) takes over for the most eye-catching heist

in the whole franchise. They’re out to steal a 2.7kg diamond

necklace worth more than $150 million during fashion’s

own Super Bowl—the Met Gala. Bullock, who gets the most

screen time here, is Debbie Ocean, sister to master thief

Danny (that was George Clooney). She’s fresh out of prison

and eager to get back into the game for dubious reasons.

The trademark Ocean’s cool is amplified thanks to

crackerjack chemistry among the ladies, plus an endless

parade of looks and styles culminating in a climax fit for

the pages of Vogue (Anna Wintour cameo? Check!). Rihanna

is all fire as a hacker who oozes sass, but it’s Hathaway

who emerges as the ensemble’s MVP with her cheeky, self-

kidding performance as a vain A-list star. She’s a riot—and

so is the movie. (Out now)
