QUEER EYE
STARRING: Antoni Porowski

The Fab Five are back for more lifestyle
interventions—and hugs—in the
second season of the makeover show
based on the early-2000s hit. With for
the Straight Guy dropped from the
original title, it frees the team up to
spread the love a little wider, with a
cancer-surviving mum and a
transgender man among some of the
people transformed in this season’s
eight emotional episodes.
(Season 2 starts on Netflix on June 15)

CHAMPIONS
STARRING: J.J. Totah

Co-created by Mindy Kaling, this
amusing small-scale sitcom is
about how Michael, a gay, theatre-
obsessed kid (Totah), adapts to
a non-fabulous life with his dad
and uncle (Anders Holm and Andy
Favreau), who run a Brooklyn gym.

(Kaling appears in the pilot as
Michael’s mum.) There are some
nice touches: Michael appreciates
the guys’ lame attempts at decor,
such as empty protein-powder jars
converted into planters.
(Now on Netflix)
