ADELAIDE BOAT SHOW –

AN ANGLER’S PARADISE

W

hether you love fishing the inland
waterways of South Australia or
prefer the open waters off the coast, the
Adelaide Boat Show promises everything
for this state’s avid angler, with new
vessels, new tackle and boat loads of
technology designed to make your day on
the water even more enjoyable.
Being South Australia’s most
comprehensive boating show, open
June 15-17 at the Showground, the
Adelaide Boat Show is the one stop
shop to choose and buy your next
rod and reel, tackle, fishing boat and
all the gear to go along with it. From
family runabouts to tinnies, powered
inflatables and high-powered bar
crushers, this show presents the best in
recreational boating, new technology,
and all the products and accessories
loved by the keen recreational or
serious angler.

Nearly 90 per cent of visitors to the
show in previous years expressed an
interest in fishing, so returning this year
are the specialist fishing clinics where
top flight presenters share their angling
tips and tricks. Always popular, these
talks cover inland and offshore fishing,
the appropriate gear and bait to use,
how to best use hard and soft lures,
along with advice and techniques that
would otherwise take years to master.
There will be plenty of tall stories as well.
The fishing clinics run throughout both
days of the show.
There’s great advice too for visitors
who are looking to purchase their first
boat and need independent information
on how to go about it. The show itself
is a great forum to help people of all
ages understand how they can get
into boating, and have their questions
answered along the way. But if you are
in the market for your first boat, a great
initiative by the show organisers is the
‘MY FIRST BOAT’ precinct. There you
can receive some obligation-free boat
buying tips from independent advisors,
and to learn how to make the most of
your time at the Boat Show.
Primary Industries and Regions SA
will also be onsite to offer information
and bring you up to date on size, bag, and
boat limits, closures and aquatic reserves,
rock lobster pot registration, fishing
gear, and protected species. You can also
ask about their FISHCARE volunteer
program, which raises awareness among
the fishing communities about the need
to protect and preserve resources for
future generations.
Alan Blake, President of the Boating
Industry Association Ltd staging the
event, said that fishing represents the

great Australian pastime of enjoying the
outdoors with friends and family. “The
Adelaide Boat Show brings together the
leading suppliers and manufacturers
from across the state, Australia and
beyond, ready to showcase the latest in
boats and fishing technology. It’s a great
time to make a deal with our exhibitors,
whether you are looking to buy new
tackle or learn from our experts,” he
said. “This is the boat show in South
Australia where all your questions about
spending more time on the water, and
catching more fish, can be answered.”
All entry tickets to the show are $10,
with children aged 16 years and younger
admitted free. The popular fishing
clinics are included with entry, as are the
bumper boat rides for kids on the indoor
16 metre pond.
South Australia’s boating and fishing
facilities are world class, and the Boating
Industry Association Ltd is responding
to local industry growth by continuing
the tradition of this boat show with a
long and proud history. “Even small, but
well-equipped marinas have sprung up in
coastal regional centres and there’s high-
quality infrastructure in place for anglers
of all persuasions,” Alan Blake said. “The
state is fast becoming a well-established
destination for cruising, long-range
fishing or inshore water sports.”
If you want quality angler’s advice
and guidance from industry experts,
and a range of boats, fishing gear and
boating accessories under the one
big roof, South Australians and fishing
tourists to the state would be well
advised not to miss this year’s Adelaide
Boat Show.
