Rempart Mountain — seen here from
legendary surf spot Tamarin Bay — rises
steeply to a height of nearly 2,000ft in
the west of the island. The serrated peak
is part of a series of dramatic crater walls
spread across the island. They form the
outline of the enormous volcano that
erupted here around 10 million years
ago, creating the island.
