Looking for that must-have fashion item in a distinct aviation style? Then look no further

than our at-a-glance range of clothing ideas for all the family.

Anniversary Collection
Why not mark the RAF’s centenary and show your type-
allegiance too with a smart, embroidered polo shirt from
GDMK Images? The garments are sized for youngsters
from ages three to four to 3X-large for adults. They come
in navy, royal blue or pink and feature profile views of
various RAF aircraft, including the Spitfire, ‘Dambusters’
Lancaster, Halifax, Wellington, Vulcan, Jaguar, Harrier
and Chinook. Manufactured in a 50-50 mix of cotton
and polyester, the fabric is strengthened by twin-needle
stitching. RAF100 designs also decorate the firm’s zipped
hoodies and fleeces.

Pilot’s Classic
Leslie Irvin designed the original Irvin flying jacket
during the 1920s, but it was phased out of the RAF by
the end of World War Two. However, the garment has
endured as a favourite with aircrew and civilians alike.
This was the first jacket within Aviation Leathercraft’s
product portfolio and is still its best seller. Every Irvin
is made from fastidiously sourced sheep hide and
handcrafted by tailors based in Kent. If you’ve worn an
Irvin, you’ll know they are warm and heavy, but bespoke
lightweight versions are also available to order. Made
from highly supple sheepskin, the Irvin blends classic
design, warmth and comfort, combined with maximum
mobility. Long sleeve zips enable flexibility, the wide
collar can be raised for better insulation and there’s a belt
to ensure a snug fit around the waist (perfect for that
Tiger Moth flight!). It comes with or without pockets.
Sizes 36-44 are £768, while 46-52 cost £798.

Honouring ‘The Few’
This is the officially licensed RAF Battle of Britain
Memorial Flight team jacket, produced by Aviation
Leathercraft. It is fire tested, endorsing its legality for
use in RAF aircraft, and that has to be a plus for any
pilot. Made from UK-sourced cow hide, this stylish
jacket sports black cotton drill lining and complements
the black overalls worn by BBMF aircrew. With two
inside and outside pockets, and secreted storm cuffs
and waistband, it’s a practical option for all weather
conditions. £450 for jackets sized 36-44, and £468 for
sizes 46-52.
