Twinkly gemstones moved from wrists and
necks to pretty much everywhere else. Tiny
stones decorated the cheeks at Christian
Siriano, and pearls brightened the inner
corners of the eyes at Adeam. Glimmering
barrettes secured easy, half-up styles at Chanel,
while hairstylist Jawara sewed what he called
“beaded crystal wigs” into the hair at Area. The
effect was extra—in the best way. “In fashion,
everyone has wanted things to be effortless,”
says Jawara. “It’s nice to change it up and do
beauty looks that are fun and feel aspirational.”

Hair accessories have done a
damn good job recently of
challenging any too-cute con-
notations. This season they
dealt the coup de grâce with
lots of leather and heavy metal.
At Balmain, hairstylist Sam
McKnight topped low ponytails
with chain-link crowns: “It’s pit-
ting a fancy French-girl head-
band against a punky chain.
Keep your hairstyle minimal.
It’s not about elaborate dos
with accessories,” he says, es-
pecially when they’ve got this
much attitude.
