- Getting to Cooke City in the winter is an adventure in itself.
Cooke City is at the end of a dead end road for seven months of
the year and can only be reached by road from Yellowstone’s
north entrance, just south of Gardiner, MT. - For those with snowmobiles, winter access to Cooke City is from
the Chief Joseph Scenic Highway (WY 296). Travel by vehicle to
the Pilot Creek parking lot and then unload your snowmobiles
and ride the last nine miles on a groomed snowmobile trail. - A consistently deep and reliable snowpack make Cooke City an
amazing snowmobile destination, from November through June.
