Dear Sir,
So boat owners are rude and precious and
hirers dangerously don’t know what they
are doing?
Our recent journey form Braunston to
Milton Keynes and back on the one fine
and hot week of 2018 so far included six
flights of six or seven double locks, on all of
which we buddied up with another
traveller.
All were boat owners, all extremely good
companions and none of them precious
about their boat, though some were
magnificent craft. One couple learned that
we had lost our padlock and unprompted
produced a spare of their own to help us
out. So well done to boat owners, and
particularly to Linda and Ken on Dionysus.
We might have been lucky as hirers – but
then we have been hiring since 1987, from
Napton Narrowboats again this time, so
perhaps they didn’t prejudge by the name
on the boat. It all contributed to a lovely
holiday, one of the best.
