Skills and parts provided
Finning, the UK importers of Cat
engines, has donated parts and
engineering expertise to oversee
and commission the installation
of Cat engines and gensets on the
MV Forth Hope. The brand new charity
ship will enable more than two million
people in the developing world
to receive free medical treatment.
Newly built for the Vine Trust, an
international development charity,
the vessel was constructed at the
Albion dockyard in Bristol before
sailing to Rosyth for fitting out in
preparation for its official launch.
The engines and generator sets
were donated by Barloworld, the
Cat dealer in South Africa. Finning
marine engineers helped complete
and commission the installation.
The MV Forth Hope will be
delivering medical care in the Peruvian
Amazon from as early as July 2017.

Boat reaches Cape Verde
New regulations affecting boat owners
cruising in Greek waters have been
put into place. All craft must have the
new paperwork in place by September
or risk being fined, according to the
Cruising Association (CA).
The current DEPKA document,
which all boat owners had to have
stamped annually and carry with the
ship’s papers to allow them to cruise
in Greek waters, has been replaced by
a new form with a different payment
process that ensures the money goes
directly to the relevant authorities.
To obtain the new DEKPA, boat
owners need to present the following
original papers to the nearest Port
Police office: the boat’s registration
document; insurance certificate (in
Greek); passport for every person on
