Yachting is considered as a sport as
expensive as Formula 1. Th ere are ten diff erent
types of yacht/sailboat racing which are
included in the Olympic. I have been vesting all
my eff orts in establishing a new training centre
in India and upgrade the Indian standard to
keep at par with international levels, and hope
to establish all possible facilities in our country
in the near future.
Establishing a yachting centre in a city
like Kolhapur has been challenging with
Rankala Lake facing environmental problems
of green water algae and pollution. I am sure
that the initiation of water sports will help in
oxygenating the water, and keep the lake clean.
I hope that the modulation of the lake will
provide opportunities for the citizens while
conveying across a powerful message to respect
natural resources.

Academy of yachting
Th e academy has been established for a social
cause: I wish to popularise this game, and
create more sports professionals. Th e Yachting
Association of India supports the Yachting
Association of Kolhapur as the new centre in
India. Apart from sailing centres in Mumbai,
Kolhapur is the second place in Maharashtra
where a yachting centre has been established.

I strongly hope that government
encourages women to participate in sports,
create more employment, and a life of
security aft er retiring from sports, so that
more women are inspired to take it up as
a career. I have been egging on my female
teammates to overcome their personal issues
and live for their own dreams. Living a life
of balance is crucial to discover a life of
contentment, success and happiness.

by local Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation and Kolhapur Municipal
Corporation to foster the spirit of sports. Yachting Association of Kolhapur looks
forward to train children and youth who want to choose sailing as a competitive sport.
Our organisation has also decided to adopt 50 children every year from economically
backward families, to guide them towards a career in sports.
I conducted my fi rst sailing camp from 21st December to 30th December 2014 at
Rankala Lake, Kolhapur. More than 30 candidates from Kolhapur learned sailing.
I am the youngest girl to start a sailing centre and dream to be an inspiration to the
next generation, particularly the Indian women and sport lovers who dream to start
yacht clubs.
