ell, I just got back from the belated

LAS Christmas match, always a good

social fish-in but with this one having added

Michelin star sausage and bacon cobs

alfresco in the car park, a great start to the

day thanks Dave and Ron. The fishing was

hard, like most of the winter it’s been a hard

slog. There were seven of us from our chapter,

Andy leading the way with a 5lb 6oz pike

only for me to take him off top slot for the

Christmas shield by 2oz! I bet Andy was

gutted and like me he lost a pike at the net

too! So an ultra-hard day and I was sitting

pretty until I too was toppled off the top slot

by a worthy winner who managed two pike

and took over my fish by 3oz. Well done Karl

(I am not bitter).

I did have an early Christmas present on

December 23rd, a pb perch at 3lb 7oz and on

a home- made soft bait, so I can’t complain.

Neal had a lovely pike of 25lb 7oz just before

Christmas - a lure caught pb for him as well.

Steve, Ian and Ken also had a nice Perch each

• Kens a whopping 4lb 1oz, Ian’s a pb of 4lb
  exactly and Steve’s ... a mere 3lb 4oz. So
  between the lean times of winter there have
  been the odd days of gluttony.
  Our chapter pub meetings go from strength
  to strength with new member Matt Osborne
  joining the LAS after meeting him out on the
  bank one Sunday and him coming along to
  the next meeting and also ‘pikebite’ from the
  forum contacting me for the next meeting
  date so that he to can come along. So things
  are looking good for some warmer weather
  fish-ins. Roll on those first warm spring days!
