Small can be beautiful if you’re looking for an effective headlamp
M
easuring 2 ¼ x 1 ¼ x 1
½” Princeton Tec’s Byte
headlamp weighs 64
grams including the adjustable
head band. Making it lighter and
smaller than its big brothers the
Remix and Fuel, but it doesn’t
compromise on performance with
its Maxbright LED which is capable
of emitting 35 Lumens of white
light out to 30 metres. The 3-mode
rubberised pressure switch is
positioned centrally on top of the
lamp. Press once and the red
Ultrabright LED lights up (useful for
loading magazines when least
disturbance is required), a second
and the main white LED comes on
medium, and a third moves this up
to full power. Pressing again turns
the unit off.
Powered by 2 X AAA batteries
(included) housed in an easily
accessible battery door enclosure
at the side of the unit it boasts
burn times of 146 hours on red and
96 on full beam. This ultra-
lightweight and compact head torch
offers a miniature, yet powerful
option within the range. Also, like
many other in the range the Byte is
equipped with an asymmetrical
single armed bracket allowing the
beam to be easily and positively
angled up or down.
