BROKERAGE

48 ft John Bain Silver TSDY 1937
John Bain is considered the father of family owned and operated power
yachts and the Silver Leaf Class (1932-1951) ranging from 42 to 52 feet
in length, of which CAIRNGORM is a fi ne example, demonstrates exactly
why – elegant and timeless in appearance, good sea keeping ability, high
quality materials and precise construction. This boat has benefi ted from
a very comprehensive maintenance regime and an owner, one of only
four since she was launched in 1937, who fully appreciates the vessel’s
character – beautifully unspoilt yet well equipped and versatile even in
this modern era.

36 ft J Pain Clark Ketch 1925
It is for good reason a yacht survives nearly 100 years - LOLA is built from
teak at one of the best yards at the time, William King & Sons and her
history is colourful. Her current owners of nearly 20 years describe her
as well mannered and utterly dependable - proven over 30,000 cruising
miles...a defi nite character combined with understated good looks.

£48,500 Lying UK

49 ft Alfred Mylne Ketch 1920
Beautiful boats were to be found aplenty from the board of Alfred Mylne
and GUDGEON has proved to be useful with it as she has been sailing
pretty well non-stop since her 1920 launch. Her rig is now Bermudan yawl
rather than gaff, making her a remarkably easy boat to sail. Extensive refi ts
in the 1980s attending to her structure - and more recent updates to her
interior and systems make her an interesting option as a vintage yacht
ready to be enjoyed by a family. A recent price reduction makes for an
opportunity!
£75,000 Lying UK

47 ft Jack Laurent Giles Yawl 1951
As with Jack Laurent Giles’ Vertue design ISMANA displays that
purposeful charm blending style with function as only he knew how - a
style that has the onlooker captivated; more subtle than the very long
overhangs that seduce so easily and far more seaworthy as a result - her
current owner has fully restored her with the help of Hubert Stagnol and
he seems to have known exactly what he wanted to achieve. Her structure
is impressive enough but it’s in the simple detailing and original fi ttings on
deck and below that make this boat very special.

56 ft Sparkman & Stephens Motor Sailer 1958
To many, a motor sailer was a motor boat with a sail - or even an under
canvassed sailing boat with large auxiliaries. By the 1950s this was not
what Sparkman and Stephens had in mind however! KARMA ex EGRET
does not carry her masts for decoration and the original coffee grinder
winch on her counter is further indication of her designer’s intentions for
the yacht’s performance. In her cruising role she is of course spacious, well
rigged and equipped for some real comfort. She remains in impressive and
original condition.

50 ft Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter 1889/2002
Built by Hambly; known for producing famously elegant working cutters,
MARIAN is the 2nd oldest of the remaining Bristol Channel pilot cutters.
In 1999 master shipwright David Walkey, notable surveyor David Cox and
designer Ed Burnett were all involved in the rebuild that has left MARIAN
immensely strong - the qualities that served her during her working life
contribute now as an incredibly seaworthy, comfortable vessel with long
legs and she is one of the fastest cutters afl oat. The beauty, simplicity and
almost humble presence of this boat will take your breath away.

59 ft William Fife III Gaff Cutter 1897/2001
SAYONARA was almost unbeatable in the early years of Australian
yachting and was to become the founding yacht of the Sayonara Cup,
having won the fi rst three challenges – followed by a long career saying
“goodbye” to all her competitors. A million dollar restoration in 2000
brought her back to life again; leaving her not only in impressive condition
but demonstrably able to prove herself fast in both light airs and heavy
weather - a very exciting opportunity to compete in the prestigious vintage
gaff class in an early William Fife III design, that sailed well is surely
destined to win silverware again.

51 ft Westernman Pilot Cutter 1998
Designed for ocean voyaging by Nigel Irens on the lines of Bristol
Channel pilot cutters and built to Ed Burnett’s drawings by Covey Island
Boat Works in Nova Scotia. ALEXANDER T formerly ELEANOR MARY
is an extraordinary marriage of yesterday’s traditional sailing ideals with
today’s technology and design. Built to MCA Category Zero to maintain
a standard; not to charter, she of course has the potential to be used by
a school or a trust or simply continue as a wonderful family boat for safe
adventure almost anywhere in the world.
£295,000 Lying France

52 ft Sparkman & Stephens Sloop 1944
Designed by K. Aage Nielsen while at S&S – Olin Stephens considered
him the best designer they had ever had. Nielsen’s manic attention to
detail extended to his demanding the best from his builders and CICLON
was no exception - and benefi tting further from being the yard owner’s own
boat! Launched in Cuba in 1944 she was rarely off the podium – beating
such legends as STORMY WEATHER and TICONDEROGA. Of course
beautiful and fast – is it time now to reintroduce her to her sisters?
