PRIZE
£50 Mainline Bait

1st: Rick Austin caught this 47lb
14oz common (left) from a Nene
Valley syndicate water using Mainline
Cell and Activ-8 boilies.

2nd: A session on the Avenue saw Luke Edwards continue his successful year with a four-fish catch topped by this 44½lb mirror
(above). Luke told Carp-Talk: “The weather was warm and sunny, and after a quick walk around I spotted a few fish in an area I hadn’t
fished all year. I put out 20 spods of hemp and maize and fished chod rigs over the top. The first bite came at noon and I netted the
Dustbin at 43lb bang on (inset). After spodding more bait out, the same rod was away again about three hours later and I was soon
looking down at Shark Bite at 44½lb. My first brace of forties – I was buzzing. I got the rod back out on the spot and had a quick bite
from a 34lb mirror. The next day was quieter and I had just one more fish at 35½lb.” Luke presented Mainline Milky Toffee pop-ups
soaked in Pineapple Juice on size 5 Fox Arma Point SR hooks, 35lb Trans Khaki Rigidity links and 4oz leads.

3rd: This personal best 42½lb mirror
(main pic, right) was the bigger of
two forties in a three-fish catch
taken by Danny Arnold from
Beckenham, Kent, during a 60-hour
stint on Elphicks Pullens Lake. The
35-year-old used Mainline Cell
boilies and also banked mirrors of 27lb 2oz and 40¼lb
(inset). Danny offered trimmed 14mm Clockwork Orange
pop-ups on 360 rigs tied with size 8 Krank hooks, seven-
inch 15lb N-Trap Semi-stiff hooklinks and 4oz Korda CoG
leads, and fished at 40 yards range to the far margin
over a small bed of particles and freebies.
