PREMIUM CARP FISHING REPORT BY GARY SPENCER

Samantha Terry of King’s Lynn, Norfolk, recorded two personal-best commons amongst a three- sh during a
24-hour session on a local syndicate. e waitress supervisor began the session with a 20lb 7oz, beating her
previous best, and ve hours later upped it again with a 28-pounder (above). Critically balanced CC Moore
Pink Northern Special pop-ups in conjunction with small PVA bags of pellets proved the downfall of all her
sh. Rigs were tied up from seven-inch 15lb Gardner Sly Skin links, size 8 Incizor hooks and 2oz at pear
leads. Her set-up featured 9lb Nash Scope rods, Shimano ST6000 reels and 12lb Pro main line.

Willow Lake at Fenland Fisheries
reopened for business on 1st March
after a short winter break and the
shing has been nice and steady
with good numbers of sh being
banked. Nick Burton shed in peg
seven and caught six mirrors,
including two thirties of 35lb and
34lb-plus, backed up by four
twenties to 28½lb. Dave Cox did a
quick overnight session in swim 12
and was rewarded with a 32lb 7oz
mirror, while Dan Green also shed
in swim 12 and took a very nice
mirror of 26lb 6oz. Sam Harnett
used maggot rigs to tempt two low
twenties during his 48-hour visit,
and Paul Myhill had a 23lb-plus
mirror using a 10mm pop-up tipped
with maggots.
Vermuyden Lake is, as usual,
producing some very consistent
sport, with good numbers of
twenties being caught. We have a
small number of spaces available for
Willow Lake this spring, so ring the
shop on 01487 841858 to make a
booking.
Abbey Lake is also now open
and the rst groups have done
rather well. Keith Dye and the
She eld crew shed in some
horrendous conditions but managed
to bank several sh to mid-twenties.
ey were followed by Tim, Greg
and Jake from Biggleswade, who
also did very well, with Tim bagging
six to 24lb 7oz, Greg taking ve to
26lb 2oz and the baby of the bunch,
Jake, tempting two, including a
stunning mirror of 25lb. Abbey
Lake is fully booked for weekends
this year and only a few slots
remain for midweek sessions in
mid-to-late summer. See the
website for booking details.
Greenacres has also reopened
to visiting anglers and the shing

has been exceptional, with more
than 20 sh gracing the bank in the
rst week. Jamie Collins and crew
from Hertford took 13 sh between
them to more than 30lb, and they
can’t wait to get back for their
August Bank Holiday session. e
few remaining spaces on Greenacres
for this year can be booked by
calling Dave Mennie on 07738
754764.
e best capture of last week
has to be Keith Dyes’s 40lb 3oz
mirror from our Woodpecker Lake
syndicate. Keith also banked a
lovely common of 27lb-plus. (www.
