Dean Towey, a 40-year-old bait maker from Newcastle-Under-Lyme, Sta ordshire, had to
wait just seven nights before he banked his target  sh from a Northamptonshire syndicate,
topping a four- sh catch with this 33lb 10oz mirror (above) during a four-day session. Dean
o ered Red Devil hookbaits over a hard bottom at 30 yards, using 2¼kg of freebies over the
course of his session. Rigs incorporated 15lb Kryston Snake-Bite links, size 8 ESP Long-
Shanx hooks and 2oz leads on clips. He also used 2¾b Greys X Flite rods, Shimano RE6000
reels and 12lb Berkley Big Game main line.

slipped his net under this 27lb 14oz mirror
(above) when he visited Cowlands Farm,
near Braintree, Essex, for a four-hour session.
 e 32-year-old plumber  shed to some snags at 60 yards
and o ered Mainline pop-ups on multi rigs amongst a few
Spombs of hemp and crushed Cell. Korda N-Trap in 20lb,
size 6 Krank hooks and 4oz pear leads were used amongst
Jamie’s end tackle, while his set-up featured Free Spirit
rods, Shimano Aero Technium 10000 XT reels and 15lb
Touchdown main line.

BEST OF THE REST:

manufacturer Tristan Cooke of Bourne, Lincolnshire.  e

Dave Smedley, a
46-year-old from Holland-on-Sea,
Essex, has notched up yet another thirty from Monks
Pit, Cambridgeshire, in the form of this 35½lb mirror
(above).  e Dreamlakes baili told Carp-Talk: “I  shed
the  rst night down in the corner of the lake near where
the  sh had been getting caught lately, but I had no
action. At 6am, I saw a  sh show in the middle of the
lake so I moved my baits into the area. A couple of
hours later, the left-hand rod ripped o .” Dave took his
 sh on a Mainline Milky To ee pop-up  shed at 90
yards. His rigs were tied up from Fox Camotex links,
size 6 Bank BUG Curved hooks and 4oz leads, and his
set-up incorporated Free Spirit Hi-‘S’ rods, Basia reels
and Submerge main line.

POUNDER


 is 28lb ghost common (above) was one of three  sh
banked by Lee Bambridge of Norwich, Norfolk, when
he spent 24 hours on Taswood Lakes.  e 18-year-old
shop assistant opted to  sh Baitcraft Savay Salmon
bottom baits amongst a small spread of freebies at the
bottom of a far-margin slope. His rigs comprised
eight-inch 15lb Korda N-Trap Semi-Sti links and size 8
Fox Arma Point SSBP hooks, while his hardware featured
12ft 3lb Sonik SKS rods, Shimano Ultegra 5500XTC reels
and 17lb  uorocarbon main line.
