returned to the use of twin outboards
in each hull. Using twin 15kW Yamaha
outboards saves weight while adding
extra space for storage in the hulls with
the elimination of large fuel tanks.
Outboards also put engine noise
outside; while there is no insulation in
the engine bays, the bulk of the noise is
blown down and out aft. Being able to
raise the outboard legs out of the water
adds to speed and ability to get close in
shallow waters. Raised legs also do not
attract growth or electrolysis.
Yamaha were chosen by its
Australian distributors for better
torque and blade design. The test boat
cruised at seven knots at 1870rpm and
maxed out at eight knots.
On deck the twin steering stations are
well placed providing a good viewing
platform ahead, port and starboard and
up the mast for mainsail trim. The jib is
a self-tacker.
The aft deck hardtop has been
extended right to the main traveller
and there is a full wrap of clears
available in the options.As with most multihull designs
nowadays the old adage that they could
not go to windward is being demolished,
we managed a healthy 7.5kts while
heading with 30º apparent wind angle
in 15kts true wind speed. Cracked the
sheets and bear off to 60° apparent and
the boat leaps forward hitting nearly ten
knots without any discernible trouble on

Given the spartan interior of this boat
with effort put into its construction
stiffness and sailability, this would be a
perfect buy for anyone ready to head out
or even to fitout themselves into a level of
comfort they prefer.
