mackerel and longtail tuna. This has
cemented in us the idea that there’s no
replacement for a quality metal lure.
Lead lures are perfect for high speed
spinning for smaller pelagics out of a boat.
However, problems are encountered when
using lead lures while spinning from the
rocks. The soft metal and wire tow points can’t
handle even the occasional knock on a
barnacle-encrusted rock ledge. This makes
these lures less than appealing to the LBG
spinning fraternity.
It would be great if an Aussie lure
manufacture consulted with land-based
spinmen in the hope of producing a
premium metal lure designed for high speed
spinning off the stones!

Which metal?
When selecting a metal lure to use off the
rocks it’s important to know the conditions of
the location. This includes the species
targeted, water depth, wind and also wave
height – the last one mainly for your safety.
