gives the pilot instant access to the port side deck, and offers
a functional console designed more for the commercial
practitioner than yacht enthusiast or owner-driver.
From the side-on view, the topsides broken only
by a horizontal strip seems a waste for the interior
accommodation compared to many of her rivals, but on
venturing forward down the stairs to the right of the
helm station to the master suite, it is set on a forward
mezzanine level in a similar style to many superyachts.
From the outset the concept was to bring the master suite as
close to the maindeck as possible – something never before
seen in the 75ft range - and this has been achieved. Set high
above the deep-V, this positioning gives a similar beam
to amidships, but with the added elevated view from the
portlights and opening hatches onto the coachroof, which
is a good 8ft above the sole, maximizing the sanctity of the
master suite, but also meaning you have to stand on a chair
to open the coachroof skylights. To port, a lounger and a
desk to starboard serves as a vanity unit, while continuing
forward, the starbordside bathroom includes a large shower
cubicle and composite stone vanity counter. Joining the
bathroom in the forepeak to port, a walk-in wardrobe,
under-bed storage and surrounding lockers add to keeping
decks clear.
Down from the master suite entrance, the lower
accommodation deck offers a standard VIP amidships,
with two further double cabins sharing the port en-suite,
meaning two families or an extended family can all be
accommodated for elongated periods. The full-beam VIP has
a centrally-placed king-size bed, office desk and walk-in
wardrobe to starboard, with the large bathroom just ahead,
making it a perfect guest cabin for charter guests.
Like the 550, the sidedecks are designed for guests as well
as crew, with knee-high bulwarks and sturdy guardrails
following the teak decking forward to the reclining bow
bench for four with its privacy cabana tent. Keeping the
working area clear for guests, the 12mm chain is fed in a
channel under the teak grating to deep fender lockers by a
Quick remote unit, while all the deck hardware and fairleads
are robust and chrome finished.
Benefitting from the increased air draft, the flybridge is
accessed by a wide, shallow-angled teak companionway
from the aft deck. Covering the whole area, the hardtop
bimini has a canvas centre that opens up to drop the sun
onto the curved dinette to starboard, and port-set wetbar
with grill, fridge and separate icemaker when required.
At the sharp end, a reverse-angle windshield protects the
double-seat helm and the sunbed to starboard behind a
seat for those wishing to watch the horizon, while further
sunworshipping areas are available on the bow coachroof
and the aft flybridge if not occupied by a tender.
Returning to the swim platform, the twin crew cabin is
set behind its dedicated transom access, incorporating
fully self-sufficient amenities. Passing forward, the engine
room designer took no shortcuts in providing adequate
maintenance area surrounding the two 1200hp MAN V8s,
with head height filter positioning and easy access around
the twin 20kVa Kohler generators.
