Ferragamo’s Finnish yard is 50 and
setting sail for yet more successNautor’s Swan will be rigging up balloons
alongside racing sails this year as the Finnish
yard marks its 50th anniversary. Nautor’s
story is a high-tech fairytale, from its first
fibreglass Swan 36, designed by Sparkman
& Stephens to improve the steering and living
spaces of a wooden sailer, to collaborations
with legends from Ron Holland to Germán
Frers. Its boats have breezed through courses
from the Whitbread to the Rolex Swan Cup,
during which these Swans were pictured in
a 1970s race. In recent years, under owner
Leonardo Ferragamo, the flagship 115 and
new bluewater 78 have carried the yard’s
spirit of comfort and performance into the
