FEADSHIP GOES LARGE, AND SMALL
That’s Amore!
Dutch powerhouse Feadship was quick off the
mark as 2016 dawned, with two major launches.
The 66.25 metre Vanish, above, was the first.
Penned by Eidsgaard Design, she boasts two
touch-and-go helipads and an outdoor cinema,
as well as a free-standing staircase that is flanked
by a glass wall in the full-height atrium.
Smaller in size but not ambition is the
33.5 metre known as Hull 692, below, the first
of five similar, compact superyachts. The boats
contain a record amount of glass and each will
have a custom layout, with Bannenberg & Rowell
responsible for the interior of Hull 692. The idea
was sparked by a Feadship owner who wanted
a smaller yacht built to Feadship
standards. feadship.nl
Heesen has delivered the 45 metre sports
yacht Amore Mio to her owners after
“intensive” sea trials in the North Sea.
The Dutch builder has revealed that
the yacht reached her expected top speed
of 30 knots. Captain Tripp Hock says:
“As she sea-trialled at ‘light load’, I was
eager to see how the gyro stabilisers
would function on such a buoyant ship
in the North Sea. To my relief, all the
coffee cups stayed on the tables.”
Amore Mio, originally built as Project
Necto, is a flybridge, all-aluminium,
semi-displacement superyacht. She was
sold to an experienced owner, who
desired a fast, sporty boat. Amore Mio
was launched in November last year at
a private ceremony at the facility in Oss,
the Netherlands. heesenyachts.com
British production builder Fairline Boats
has been bought by Russian investors
for an undisclosed sum. Fairline was
marketed for sale in December after
it entered into administration. The new
company, Fairline Yachts, is funded
by two long-term UK-based Russians,
who are both passionate boat owners.
Russell Currie, newly appointed
managing director, says the company,
whose top-of-the-range Squadron
78 Custom is pictured above, will
complete all orders received by Fairline
Boats, “including those not yet started
being built as well as those that are
already in production”. fairline.com
