How to sparkle

this Med season

Glittering events await this summer.
Zoe Dickens checks out the latest fine jewellery

The Med season is just around the corner and, with it, a whole
host of parties and events that call for a fine jewellery update.
Luckily, the world’s greatest houses are happy to oblige with
a variety of new collections to snap up before your yachting
neighbours do.
As classic and covetable as the name suggests, the
Chanel Icons collection is a hit list of the French fashion
house’s most famous designs reworked in glittering
diamonds. Featuring the instantly recognisable camellia, star
and palm motifs, there’s no better place to show these off than
the Cannes Film Festival red carpet in May.
If your tastes are more high-octane
then look to Monica Vinader and her
Riva collection for diamonds with
all-day appeal for the Monaco Grand Prix
at the end of May. Although inspired by the
Italian Riviera, these easy-to-wear pavé
pieces in yellow and rose gold are perfect
for the extended celebrations of F1’s most
prestigious race.

Of course, with all the balls, galas and society gatherings
that the Med season entails, subtly chic jewels with a lifespan
beyond one party are a must. Van Cleef & Arpels’ recently
unveiled Diamond Breeze collection of timeless, understated
pieces in pristine diamonds and white gold offers just that.
Whether you choose the romantic Lotus ring for the amfAR
gala or the Snowflake collar and matching bandeau ring for
the Venice Film Festival, these are gems you’ll treasure long
after the sun sets on the Côte d’Azur.
If after all that excitement you’re ready for the peaceful
shores and pastel colours of the Amalfi Coast then turn
to Cartier for high jewellery timepieces to rival the beauty
of Positano. Conceived as part of the famous Tutti Frutti
family, the Tiny Tutti Frutti and Toi & Moi watches were
debuted to rave reviews at SIHH 2016. With each featuring
tiny leaves, berries and flowers picked out in vivid rubies,
sapphires, emeralds and diamonds, it’s not hard to see why.
