I never leave home without...

Guido Krass
YACHT: Silver Fast
LENGTH: 77m
YEAR: 2015
LOCATION: Miami

  • Have you had much time on board?
Yes. We had the whole Krass family on
board for an entire month over Christmas.
We were also joined by the boat’s designer,
Espen Øino, and his partner Sabrina

  • Where have you been cruising?
    The Dominican Republic, British Virgin
    Islands and the West Indies

  • What was New Year’s like?
Very busy! We were in St Barths. A lot of
    fun for one night

  • What’s your favourite Caribbean
    destination?
North Sound, Virgin Gorda. And adjacent
    Anegada. The beaches are incredible

  • Where do you spend most time on board?
Down at the swim platform and in the beach
club. It’s a really comfortable space with
    plenty of room for everyone

  • Is her sleek hull proving to be economical?
Absolutely. We cruised six weeks from and
to Miami, with lots of runs in between, using
    only three-quarters of our tank

I’m currently reading Where
Are the Customers’ Yachts? by
Fred Schwed Jr. It’s a book about
common-sense investing and full
of amusing pearls of wisdom!
On board we watch all the works of
Sir David Attenborough and love series
like Homeland, Game of Thrones and
Downton Abbey.
I have been collecting watches for
some time and Audemars Piguet
is my favourite brand. I wear the
Offshore Diver or the white Pride
of Siam on board and the Skeleton
Perpetual for dinner.
I like all kinds of music as long as it
was composed before the
1980s! I love country swing and ballads,
but also oldies and jazz.
So far all our cruising has been in the
Arctic and the only toy I have used
is the jet ski.
I am a total tech geek and an early
adopter. My latest must-haves are Earin
Bluetooth buds and I never go anywhere
without my iPad Pro.
Aviator-style glasses made by Cartier
are my favourite. For the Arctic I had
mirrored lenses put in them.
That turned out to be very useful.
One of the first things I do when I go
aboard is go to the bridge and chat
with the captain and the crew about
how things have been while I was gone
and also to make sure we have enough
wine and chocolate for the next trip!
The first thing I pack is a Loro
Piana Storm System jacket that
is light but waterproof and
warm when needed!
The one thing I never forget?
Underwater camera housing
for photography during dives.
