In New Zealand, Kit Carlier Design has created Chimera – a limousine
tender concept that he hopes to see built soon. Th e technologically
advanced design is inspired by the gentleman’s racers of the 1920s and
’30s. Th e 14.5 m limousine is an eff ortless blend of classic design elements
and contemporary styling wrapped around an extremely modern
propulsion and electronics package.
Its design sees passengers safely tucked away in a palatial private
interior while being chauff eured by crew from a port helm station
positioned forward; a styling cue taken from a bygone era when
chauff eurs drove sans-roof with passengers cocooned in the rear.
Chimera is designed to off er the three key propulsion options from
conventional common rail turbo diesel engines, to a diesel/electric
hybrid, and with the investigation underway for a fully electric package.

KIFARU BABY FROM CNI
“A fi ghter plane without wings” is how designer Luca Dini describes
her. “Designed for expert owners who can readily recognise quality,
technical innovation and refi ned styling.” Call her what you like, but
we still think that the Kifaru Baby is one of the most strangely named
of the tenders we have reviewed. Noteworthy for her sporting lines
and construction specifi cations, with a superstructure completely in
aluminium she will suit those looking for looking for a compact yacht
or an exclusive luxury tender. She is a small superyacht, with a sporty
feel and high performance.
