L

ong known as a luxury yachting destination with its
extravagant mansions, upscale restaurants and glitzy
shops, Palm Beach once again plays host to one of the
fi nest boat shows in the U.S. going 31 years strong. Set for
March 17-20 on West Palm Beach’s Flagler Drive, the Palm
Beach International Boat Show will feature more than $1.2 billion
worth of boats and yachts from infl atables, powerboats, fi shing
boats, center consoles, superyachts more than 150-foot LOA,
and anything else in between. In addition to a wide selection of
watercraft and marine accessories, the show offers live musical
entertainment and fun for the whole family including special
events and educational activities for boaters and anglers.

The show brings back for a second year its on-the-water
training presented by U.S. Coast Guard licensed captains for
one- or three-hour workshops onboard a 33' twin inboard
or a 28' twin outboard boat. For the three-hour seminars,
participants get to choose from the following: Advanced
Docking and Precision Boat Control in Tight Spaces or
Powerboating Made Easy. Advance registration is $99 per
person or $125 at the show. For the one-hour trainings,
boaters can pick from a dockside class on First Mate Skills
(skippers age 10 and more are welcome), or on-the-water
events such as Close Quarter Maneuvering Skills, Anchoring
and Multi-Vessel Rafting Techniques, or Open Water Boat
Handling and Seamanship. Advance registration is $20 or
$25 at the show, and $10 for the dockside training.
The AquaZone by Nautical Ventures makes a comeback
as well with paddle boarding, Hobie kayaks, stand-up
paddleboard yoga demos, and much more in a 15,000-gallon
pool. While children learn basic fishing techniques from Hook
The Future at its Kids’ Fishing Clinics (sessions on Saturday
and Sunday at 12PM and 2PM), adults can sharpen their skills
at eight mini-sessions with the best professional anglers of
the International Game Fish Association.
Park within walking distance of the entrances or
come by boat and tie up free of charge at the come-
by-boat docks located south of the in-water displays.
