Royal Phuket Marina (RPM) announced a five-year, five billion baht
(approx. US$150 million) investment plan with the goal that the marina
becomes the leading lifestyle destination in Asia. The plan involves
marina expansion including an innovative new water facility, along
with the construction of two hotels, an apartment development, and the
addition of a new children’s zone.
“The five billion baht planned investment over the next five years is
part of my vision to make Royal Phuket Marina an iconic waterfront
lifestyle and tourist destination,” says Owner Gulu Lalvani.
The marina recently opened the island’s newest dry stack boat storage
facility – catering for boats up to 12 metres (39 feet) in length and
increases boat capacity at Royal Phuket Marina to 296. This is alongside
the latest Wiggins Marina Bull forklift technology that provides a safe
way of lifting boats in and out of the water – the first of its kind in Asia.
“Wet berths in the marina are at a premium and we run near 100%
year-round occupancy,” says Marina Manager Woranart Wongvanich.
“With the dry stack we can accommodate smaller powerboats out of the
water and with our new Boat Butler service we can provide convenient,
hassle-free boating for our clients.”
RPM is the host of the annual Pimex – the longest-running marine
and lifestyle show in Southeast Asia – the 13th edition of which in

January 2016 saw 5,500 visitors in attendance. The 2017 show will be
held January 5-8.
