The Republic of Singapore Yacht Club is the oldest yacht club in Asia
and the only member-owned yacht club in Singapore. Founded in 1826
as the Singapore Yacht Club, the RSYC became known as the Royal
Singapore Yacht Club when it was granted royal patronage by King
George V in 1922, with the Prince of Wales as patron, followed by King
George VI and Queen Elizabeth II. After Singapore’s independence in
1965, a number of Singapore’s Heads of State became patrons of RSYC.
Current patron is S. R. Nathan, former President of the Republic of
Singapore.
RSYC moved to its present location at 52 West Coast Ferry Road in
1999 after completing its third purpose-built, award-winning clubhouse
and marina. This modern facility was augmented in May 2012 with the
completion of a five-storey dry stack capable of accommodating some
230 boats. The 127-berth marina offers modern support facilities to
both members and visiting international boats. Facilities include a well-
equipped gym, swimming pool, and several bars and restaurants.
