“MY FRIENDS AND I WENT ON A WEEKLONG TRIP TO CÔTE D’IVOIRE. One afternoon,
we went on a tour of Grand-Bassam, a French-colonial resort town near the capital city of
Abidjan. It’s a unesco World Heritage site, and the architecture is incredible. But my favorite
memory was meeting this group of schoolgirls who had just gotten out of class and were
in no rush to get home. Their joy was so contagious that I had to pull out my camera.
It’s partly because of this perfect day that I’m moving to Côte d’Ivoire from Boston this fall.”
