Some ideas for the sailing comments column might be: sails hoisted, sail changes,
and reefi ng.
Power vessels (or sailing vessels under power) have a separate column for
engine hours. Show RPM in another column or in the comments fi eld. All power
vessels need a separate engineering log for hourly readings of water temperature,
oil pressure, and voltage. Log comments on any problems such as vibration,
smoke, leaks, engines out of sync, or unusual noises.
All vessels should log times and details of landfall and sightings of impor-
tant navigational aids. Enter weather observations or make a separate weather
log. (For details on recommended weather entries, see Chapter 12.)
